Armand McCormick

Before earning his BA and MA in Exercise Science Armand served more than 4 years in the USMC as an infantryman. While serving, Armand received many awards and honors. After his service, he became the Director of XL Sports Acceleration. Armand is a CrossFit Level I Coach and holds multiple strength and conditioning certifications. In addition to coaching, Armand does the programming for CrossFit Kilo and multiple CrossFit gyms in Iowa. Programming is done from an extensive background of education and personal/professional experience. Armand has worked with multiple college teams at UNI and countless D1 individual athletes. As a highly competitive CrossFit athlete, Armand has a great deal of competition experience.

Sarah McCormick

Sarah, a former Division I track athlete at the University of Northern Iowa found her love for CrossFit in 2009. She has earned her BA in Exercise Science from UNI and is a CrossFit Level I Coach. Sarah also runs our Nutrition Program and has helped numerous people change their lives for the better by educating and empowering them to make health and nutrition a priority.

Sarah McCormick

Travis Hansen 

BA | MA | USAW

After graduating from Waterloo West High-School Travis attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received his BA and MA in Exercise Science. Travis served as the GA strength and conditioning coach for the UNI volleyball team as well as Waterloo East High-School. Travis is a USAW certified sports coach and is the head assistant XL Sports Acceleration Coach.

Megan Timmins 

BA | MA | CFL1

Megan Timmins received her BA from the University of Iowa while playing volleyball there from 2006-2010. She went on to earn her MA in Exercise Science from UNI where she also worked as a graduate assistant with the women’s volleyball team. Megan was previously working for Superior Athletic Advantage, a strength and conditioning facility in the Chicago area. In addition to coaching, Megan works as an adjunct professor at UNI and Hawkeye Community College.

Kate Bargman 

BA | CFL1 | MANAGER

Kate graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2010 with her BA in Exercise Science.  During her final semester, she completed an internship with XL Sports where she was introduced to CrossFit and quickly fell in love with the sport of fitness. In addition to coaching, Kate works as the manager for The Gym.

Kyle Flickinger

BA | CFL1

Kyle graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2012 with his BA in Exercise Science.  During his final year he served as an assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the UNI soccer team. Kyle was introduced to CrossFit by a close friend in 2011 and was instantly hooked.

Jeff Stewart

Jeff Stewart

BA | COACH

Jeff, a former Division I track athlete at the University of Northern Iowa began Crossfit in 2013. While at UNI Jeff earned his BA in Business Management. He has served as an assistant coach for high school Cross Country and Track & Field. He also competes in Olympic distance triathlons including the Ironman. In addition to coaching and competing, Jeff works as a Sr Director of Analytics at The CBE Group.

Jacob Clark 

USAW | CSS

Jacob is currently a Senior at the University of Northern Iowa studying Exercise Science. He has made the Dean’s list 5 times while at UNI. Jacob has been weightlifting since 6th grade, and was a 3 sport athlete in High School competing in Football, Wrestling, and Track. He’s worked with High School strength & conditioning programs, and is a competitive powerlifter @ 220lbs/242lbs weight class.

Shantelle Weichers

BA | MA | ATC | CSCS | NS | CFL1 | CrossFit Mobility

Shantelle graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a BA in Health Promotion Wellness and Athletic Training (sports medicine) and an MA in Exercise Physiology. While completing her masters, she served as a GA Athletic Trainer providing injury prevention/management, emergency care, and rehabilitation for the multiple division 1 sports. She has worked in sports medicine for many years and holds certifications as an Athletic Trainer (ATC), strength and conditioning specialist (CSCS), nutrition specialist (NS) by the American Academy of Sports Dieticians and Nutritionists (AADSN), and has passed her CF level 1 and CF mobility courses. She is a former high school athlete and 2-time state champion all-around gymnast and competitive girl’s gymnastics coach. Recovery and rehabilitation is her passion.  She manages the Kilo Athletic Recovery Room at The Gym.  She is also an adjunct instructor at the University of Northern Iowa and Purdue University Global.  She enjoys CrossFit and Kardio workouts at The Gym, as well as hiking, biking, and spending quality time with friends and family.

Zildjian Seehase

BA | CFL1

Zildjian earned her BA in Communications from the University of Northern Iowa and is currently working towards her MS in Kinesiology with a graduation date of December 2019. She attended Denver High School where she ran at state cross country for 3 years and was also a track athlete.

Peyton Smith

BA | CFL1

Peyton graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2018 with a BA in Business Management with an Emphasis in Organizational Leadership. Peyton was a multi-sport athlete in high school competing in baseball, football, wrestling and track. He loves working with athletes of all skill levels to better develop speed, agility, strength and sports specific skills. He completed an internship with CrossFit Kilo in 2018 and was hired on staff later that year.
