Armand McCormick

OWNER, HEAD COACH, MA, CSCS, USAW, CFL1, CFCPC, USATFL1, CPT

Before earning his BA and MA in Exercise Science Armand served more than 4 years in the US MC as a infantryman. While serving, Armand recieved many awards and honors. He is the Director of XL Sports Acceleration. Armand is a CrossFit Level I Coach and holds many other strength and conditioning certifications as well. Armand placed 3rd in the North Central Regional in 2011 and finished tied for 23rd in the 2011 Reebok CrossFit Games. Armand does the programming for CrossFit Kilo and 2.2. Programming is done from an extensive background of education and personal/professional experience. Armand has worked with multiple college teams at UNI and countless Div.I individual athletes.

Sarah McCormick

OWNER, BA, CFL1, USATFL1

Sarah, a former Division I track athlete at the University of Northern Iowa found her love for CrossFit in 2009. She has earned her BA in Exercise Science from UNI and is a CrossFit Level I Coach.  Sarah competed with CrossFit Kilo at the Reebok CrossFit Games in 2012 (8th place finish) and 2013 (6th place finish).  You can contact Sarah at [email protected]

Travis Hansen

BA & USAW

After graduating from Waterloo West High-School Travis attended the University of Northern Iowa where he received his BA in exercise science and will receive his MA upon defending his research project. Travis served as the GA strength and conditioning coach for the U.N.I. volleyball team as well as Waterloo East High-School. Travis is a USAW certified sports coach and is the head assistant XL Sports Acceleration Coach.

Megan Timmins

BA, CROSSFIT LEVEL 1 COACH

Megan Schipper received her BA from the University of Iowa while playing volleyball there from 2006-2010. Pending completion of her research project she will earn her MA in Exercise Science from UNI where she also worked as a graduate assistant with the womens volleyball team. Megan was previously working for Superior Athletic Advantage, a strength and conditioning facility in the Chicago area. She competed on the KiloTrained team at the 2015 Central CrossFit Regionals.

Kate Bargman

BA & CROSSFIT LEVEL I COACH, Head Coach and Manager at Kilo Trained, Waverly

Kate graduated from UNI in 2010 with her BA in Exercise Science.  During her final semester she completed an internship with XL Sports where she was introduced to CrossFit. She immediately fell in love with the Sport of Fitness and has competed on the CrossFit Kilo Team at the 2013, 2014, and 2015  CrossFit North Central Regional with 1st, 2nd, and 4th place finishes respectively. She also competed on the 2014 and 2015 CrossFit Kilo Games teams. Kyle Flickinger

BA, CROSSFIT LEVEL I COACH

Kyle graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2012 with his BA in Exercise Science.  During his final year he served as an assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach for the UNI soccer team. Kyle was introduced to CrossFit by a close friend in 2011 and was instantly hooked.  Kyle competed as an individual at the 2014 CrossFit North Central Regional and he also competed on the 2015 KiloTrained Regionals team.

Luke Schafer 

CROSSFIT LEVEL I COACH

Luke graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2016 with a BA in Biology. He began interning at Crossfit Kilo and XL Sports Acceleration in September of 2014 in order to learn as much as he could from the coaches at Kilo. Luke has spent the last 3 summers working with Denver Schools for XL Sports. He has competed on a regional team for Crossfit Kilo in 2014, 2015, and 2016 as well as on the 2015 Crossfit Games team.

Charlie Donohue

CROSSFIT LEVEL 1 COACH

Charlie works as a firefighter/paramedic for Waterloo Fire Rescue. He attended and played rugby for the University of Northern Iowa from 2000-2005. Following college Charlie competed in sprint triathalons as well as the Firefighter Combat Challenge but found his passion for CrossFit in 2008. He has been with CrossFit Kilo since then and qualified for the 2011 North Central Regional as an individual and competed with CrossFit Kilo at the Reebok CrossFit Games in 2013 and 2014.
